Lucknow: The good rains after the onset of monsoon in Uttar Pradesh have come to a halt for the time being. According to the Meteorological Department, rain activities are likely to remain limited in most parts of the state for the next two days. During this period, there may be light rain at some places, while the weather is expected to be relatively dry in most of the districts.
Good rain in the initial phase
Continuous rainfall was recorded in many districts after the entry of south-west monsoon in the state. This brought relief to the farmers and also provided relief from the scorching heat to some extent. But now as the pace of rain has slowed down, the effect of humidity and heat has started increasing once again.
43 percent less rain than normal
According to Meteorological Department data, between June 1 and July 3, only 64.5 mm rainfall has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh against the normal rainfall of 112.5 mm. That means there has been about 43 percent less rainfall in the state during this period. Meteorologists believe that if the monsoon becomes active in the next few days, then this lack of rainfall is likely to be compensated.
Chance of rain in these districts
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in Sonbhadra, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur and surrounding areas. There may be locally heavy rainfall in these districts, hence people have been advised to remain alert.
Monsoon will become active again after two days
The Meteorological Department estimates that monsoon activities will intensify again after two days. After this, good rains can be seen in many parts of the state, which is expected to bring down the temperature and provide relief to the farmers. The Meteorological Department has advised people to keep an eye on the weather forecasts and warnings issued from time to time.
