Rain Update: Strong presence of Monsoon across the country; Thunderstorm likely in 20 states, alert issued

New Delhi : In many parts of the country heavy rain seems to be happening. Life in many states has been disrupted due to the increasing intensity of monsoon. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir have experienced heavy rains, water logging, floods and landslides. This has disrupted life.

The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains, thundershowers and gusty winds in 20 states including Delhi-NCR, and has forecast monsoon to remain active over central and north India for the next few days. Monsoon has entered all the states across the country. Heavy rains on Friday night and Saturday morning led to flood-like conditions in Gujarat. Nineteen people were rescued from four vehicles stuck in flood waters near Samadhiala village in Mendarda district of Gujarat.

Also in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra, there was 3 feet of water in the market. Shops were closed and people were wading through waist-deep water. After heavy rains in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, water entered the surgery room at Sawai Mansingh Hospital. Patients were transferred elsewhere. More than 26 districts of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal and Indore experienced heavy rain on Friday.

Cars go under water in Uttar Pradesh

It rained in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. GSVM Medical College in Kanpur has been flooded, cars and two-wheelers partially submerged. In Jammu and Kashmir, a landslide near Kauha on the Ramnagar-Udhampur road on Saturday morning caused huge boulders and debris to pile up on the road, blocking the road.

Succeeded in saving two workers

A JCB and two of its workers got trapped in the strong current of the Mandakini River in Kedarghati at Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand due to the rising water level. SDRF and water police immediately started rescue operations and rescued the driver and his assistant.
