Amad, Matheus Cunha and Lisandro Martinez have all opened their scoring accounts in this summer’s most prestigious international football tournament.

While Noussair Mazraoui has yet to find the back of the net for his country in this competition, his contribution has been invaluable.

The full-back starred for his national team earlier this year as they lifted the Africa Cup of Nations title and has maintained his impressive form for Morocco on the global stage.

Operating from the left-back position, Mazraoui has started in four of the Atlas Lions’ five matches so far.

Morocco did not have an easy outing against co-hosts Canada, struggling particularly during the first half of the encounter.

However, a powerful second-half performance featuring three goals helped the North African side secure a comfortable passage to the quarter-finals, where they now face a blockbuster clash against France.

Mazraoui was a defensive rock throughout the match, recording 14 defensive actions in total, though he managed to win only one of his three tackles.

He made an impressive 10 clearances and even blocked one effort that seemed destined for goal.

The Manchester United defender dominated his duels, winning eight of nine on the ground and four of six in the air, effectively neutralizing the threat posed by the Canadian forwards.

While Mazraoui’s attacking duties were limited, he still maintained an 83% passing accuracy.

He completed one successful dribble during the game, although his only attempted cross failed to reach its target.

Mazraoui will now turn his attention to Thursday evening’s showdown against France, as he aims to help Morocco reach back-to-back World Cup semi-finals.
