After retiring from professional football at the end of the 2025/26 season due to persistent injury problems, former Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Süle has revealed his next step — joining Kreisliga outfit SV Tiefenbach.

The 30-year-old’s move is being hailed as the most significant signing in the club’s history, given that Süle was still competing in the UEFA Champions League as recently as the previous season.

In a conversation with Sky, Süle shared his motivation behind this decision, saying, “I’m genuinely excited to rediscover football from a completely different angle — one where it’s all about the joy of playing rather than the business or financial side. Two of my closest friends are part of SV Tiefenbach, and one of them even serves as the coach. After spending 13 years in the professional game, it feels like a real blessing to be back on the pitch with my mates, simply enjoying this beautiful sport to the fullest.”
