Although the legendary Porsche 911 is most celebrated for its prowess on tarmac, this sports car has also built a strong reputation as a capable performer on loose surfaces throughout its motorsport history. While numerous workshops are ready to create rally-inspired 911 builds for those willing to pay the price, Signature Autosports is looking to draw attention with something special. Their latest creation, the Meridian 911, is a restomod version of the classic Porsche designed to conquer rally stages while retaining a hint of grand touring sophistication.

Signature Autosports is well-established in the field of bespoke automotive craftsmanship. The company is known for its high-performance builds that include tuned Land Rover Defenders, Hellcat-powered Power Wagons, and modern reinterpretations of icons like the Mercedes 300 SL and Porsche 356 Speedster. However, the Meridian 911 project takes inspiration from the G-body generation of the Porsche 911, a model that itself enjoyed popularity in rally racing circles.

As expected from such a build, the Meridian 911 has been upgraded with a long-travel suspension featuring adjustable ride height and revised suspension geometry to enhance off-road handling. It also includes integrated skid plates and a set of all-terrain tyres for added durability. The increased suspension travel not only aids in handling rough terrain but also ensures a more comfortable drive in daily use. Additional rally-inspired touches include a built-in roof rack and front-mounted light pods to complete the adventure-ready aesthetic.

Powering the Meridian 911 is a 3.8-litre flat-six engine that has undergone a series of performance modifications. It features Pauter billet heads with ported valves, Molly Motorsports 102 mm pistons, high-performance camshafts, a carbon-fibre intake, a Stuttgart Classica plenum, and a carbon engine shroud. These upgrades raise the compression ratio to 11.4:1, helping the engine produce an impressive 365 hp. The car also boasts Clewett individual throttle bodies for a distinctive exhaust note, along with a lightweight single-mass flywheel and an upgraded clutch for sharper throttle response.

While the images currently circulating are AI-generated, a spokesperson for Signature Autosports confirmed to Road & Track that a real production version of the Meridian 911 is slated for debut this summer. Final impressions will have to wait until then, but the project appears to be moving forward with genuine intent. As with the company’s other custom builds, buyers will have significant input into the final design. Nevertheless, Signature Autosports has made it clear that it intends to preserve the timeless silhouette of the G-body 911, suggesting that any exterior changes will be subtle. In this case, restraint seems to be the guiding principle.
