Mumbai (Maharashtra) [इंडिया]July 6 (ANI): In view of the deteriorating weather conditions in Maharashtra, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued an advisory. In this advisory issued on Monday, private offices have been asked to allow their employees to work from home as far as possible. Apart from this, non-essential government offices will function only for half the day.

Maharashtra government issued advisory
- This advisory has come at a time when many parts of Maharashtra are receiving heavy to very heavy rains. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has even issued red alert for many districts. Earlier in the day, heavy rains led to flood-like conditions in low-lying areas of Raigarh.
- Due to waterlogging in the area, traffic on the Mumbai-Goa Highway was also adversely affected.
- IMD scientist Bikram Singh said that there has been heavy to very heavy rain at many places in Mumbai. At the same time, very heavy rains were recorded at some isolated places and ghat areas.
- He told ANI, "Pune district, Raigarh and Palghar have also received heavy rainfall. Today, the highest rainfall of 670 mm has been recorded in Lonavala."
There will be havoc in Maharashtra in the next 24 to 48 hours
Singh further said, "For the next 24 to 48 hours, we are again issuing red alert for Raigad, Ghat area of Pune district, Nashik and Palghar. The next 48 hours are very important for these districts. Orange alert has been issued for the Konkan region."
Meanwhile, Central Railways said on Monday that after the landslide between Lonavala and Karjat, many trains have been diverted, some have been short terminated (ending the journey midway) and some have been short originated (starting the journey midway). Timings of many trains have also been changed. Passengers have been appealed to check the new time table of trains before starting their journey.

Strict orders from BMC
- BMC has directed developers, architects, licensed surveyors, contractors, project managers and site engineers to check and secure scaffolding, cranes, tin sheets, loose materials and other temporary structures.
- The civic body has also directed that work at height and lifting operations should be stopped where there is a risk of inclement weather. It has been asked to keep a constant watch till the weather becomes normal. BMC said that it is mandatory to follow the safety rules and appealed to everyone to strictly follow this advisory for the safety of workers, people living nearby and the general public.
- BMC said, "All workers will be required to use prescribed PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and fall protection equipment. Safety checks should be conducted immediately at the site and all unsafe conditions should be rectified without delay. The safety of workers, neighborhood residents and the general public is of paramount importance. All developers are requested to take this advisory seriously and strictly follow all safety rules and construction best practices." (ANI)
