Telangana BJP President N Ramachander Rao has rejected the claims of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. He said that 'One Country, One Election' and Women's Reservation Bill will definitely be passed in the Parliament and Congress is only spreading confusion among the people.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): Telangana BJP president N Ramachander Rao on Saturday rejected Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's comments on BJP's role in political defection. He alleged that these comments were aimed at creating confusion among political parties and the public.

Speaking to ANI, Rao also insisted that the proposed "One Nation, One Election" law and the Women's Reservation Bill will be passed by Parliament. He said, "Jairam Ramesh's speculative comment on BJP's role in the breakup of parties is just a political statement, aimed at creating confusion among political parties and the public. His wish that 'One Nation, One Election' and women's reservation should not be passed in Parliament will remain only a wish - because it will."

Congress accused of opposing women's reservation

The BJP leader alleged that Congress was opposing women's reservation and said voters would hold its MPs accountable. Rao said, "People have realized that their MPs are not supporting women's reservation; they are opposing it. Therefore, they will be held accountable in future elections. These are important factors. It is not the party sentiment but the public will that will force the MPs to support the government's bill and decisions in Parliament." He further said, "Jairam Ramesh fears that nothing should be passed under Modi's rule."

Jairam Ramesh had made serious allegations against BJP

Earlier, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had alleged that the BJP was pursuing an agenda of "revenge politics" aimed at securing two-thirds majority to amend the Constitution. "Despite many efforts, they did not get two-thirds majority, and they are now taking revenge. Their real motive is to change the Constitution of India. This is politics of revenge. They are breaking parties. But they are not going to get two-thirds majority. They are very adept at playing psychological games. Their real motive is to change the Constitution of India. The purpose of crossing 400 was to be in a position to change the Constitution," he alleged.

The Congress leader also said that people have started believing that election results are "pre-decided". Jairam Ramesh said, "People have started believing that the election results are predetermined... There is no doubt that our Constitution and our electoral system are under attack... If the election results are predetermined, then what is the point of holding elections?"

Commenting on the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, Ramesh dismissed the all-party meeting called by the government as a "formality" and said the real legislative agenda was decided elsewhere. He said, "An all-party meeting is a formality. The Defense Minister attends it, gives a speech, listens, and then the agenda given by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister's office to the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha is completely different. This all-party meeting has no meaning... We are going into this monsoon session knowing that they will bring back the delimitation bill. They may also bring 'one nation, one election'."

Political turmoil in Bengal and Maharashtra

In both West Bengal and Maharashtra, factions are forming in political parties or a large section is trying to join another political party. Recently, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs and MPs have parted ways with the Mamata Banerjee-led party and formed their own faction. TMC MPs have claimed to have "merged" into the National Citizens Party (NCPI).

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, several MPs and other leaders of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena resigned and joined Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde). This is a repeat of the 2022 incident, which had basically split the Shiv Sena. (ANI)
