The meeting, which was originally scheduled to be held in Ayodhya, was postponed after the alleged theft of offerings from the donation bins of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Now it has been rescheduled and will be held in Chhatarpur in the national capital. According to sources, Champat Rai, who serves as the international vice president of VHP, has also been invited to attend the meeting. However, it is not yet clear whether he will participate in the two-day event or not. The meeting is expected to deliberate on key organizational matters and review the ongoing activities and future programs of the VHP.

Donation theft case and SIT investigation

This meeting is taking place at a time when the SIT is investigating the alleged embezzlement of donations in the Ram Temple. While eight accused have been arrested and taken into custody, members of the Faizabad Bar Association filed a police complaint earlier today, demanding an FIR against VHP international vice president and Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra general secretary Champat Rai as well as trust member Anil Mishra and temple administration assistant Gopal Rao. Champat Rai and Anil Mishra have resigned from their posts in the trust.

Meanwhile, the state government on July 1 gave the SIT a 15-day extension to complete its investigation. This extension has been given to enable the SIT to expand the scope of its investigation and comprehensively investigate all aspects of the case.

An FIR was registered on June 25 after the SIT submitted its preliminary report on June 23 and eight accused were arrested. Subsequently, taking moral responsibility for the alleged misuse of donations in the Ayodhya Ram temple, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai and former trustee Anil Mishra resigned. The resignation came hours after police arrested all eight people named in the FIR. Ayodhya police can interrogate the accused present in custody on Sunday. (ANI)
