External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated Cabo Verde on its Independence Day. He shared a photo of INS Sudarshini's visit to Port of Mindelo in a post on Instagram. INS Sudarshini had reached Cabo Verde as part of Lokayan 26 expedition.

New Delhi [भारत]July 5 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday greeted the people and government of Cabo Verde on the occasion of its Independence Day.

In a post on Twitter, the External Affairs Minister also wished his counterpart, Cape Verdean Foreign Minister Amante da Rosa, on the occasion. "Foreign Minister Manuel Amante da Rosa, best wishes to the Government and people of Cabo Verde on the occasion of their Independence Day," he wrote while sharing a photo of INS Sudarshini's last African stopover at Port of Mindelo, Cape Verde before embarking on a trans-Atlantic voyage in May this year.

INS Sudarshini's visit strengthened relations

A number of professional interactions, cultural exchanges and social events took place during the four-day stopover, further strengthening the maritime ties between the two countries.

During the visit, the Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini called on Capitao-de-Navio Kahbi Yasin Fonseca Pereira Batista, Commander, Cabo Verde Coast Guard, Coast Guard Command. The discussions focused on common interests in maritime security and ways to enhance cooperation.

A major highlight of the training program was the Indian Navy conducted damage control and seamanship drills on board Patrol Vessel Guardiao off Cabo Verde. A delegation from the Cabo Verde Army also visited INS Sudarshini and took stock of the ship's sail training capabilities.

Reflecting the warm relations between the two countries, a joint yoga session was organized with the participation of Cabo Verde Coast Guard personnel and Indian Embassy officials. A welcome ceremony held onboard the ship was attended by senior military officials, government dignitaries and members of the diplomatic community, promoting goodwill and camaraderie.

This port call at Mindelo marked an important milestone under the Indian Navy's 'Bridges of Friendship' initiative, reaffirming its commitment towards maritime access and enduring partnerships with friendly nations. (ANI)
