Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku made World Cup history during his team's 4-1 victory over the United States in the round of 16, becoming the first player ever to score as a substitute in four different World Cup matches.
The 33-year-old came off the bench in the 67th minute and sealed Belgium's win with a goal in second-half stoppage time, finding the net in the 90+3rd minute.
Lukaku has now scored all three of his goals at the 2026 World Cup after coming on as a substitute. His first World Cup goal off the bench came 12 years earlier in the 2014 round of 16, coincidentally also against the United States, when Belgium won 2-1 after extra time.
In addition to his three goals at this year's tournament, Lukaku has also contributed in other ways. During Belgium's 1-1 draw with Egypt in the group stage, he provided an assist and forced an own goal, continuing his influential role despite not always starting matches.
The latest milestone adds another chapter to Lukaku's impressive international career, highlighting his impact as one of Belgium's most effective game-changing substitutes on football's biggest stage.
