The Government of India's 'Ayushman Bharat Scheme' is nothing short of a major boon for poor and middle-class families. Under this ambitious scheme, cardholders are entitled to free medical treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh annually at government and empanelled private hospitals.

However, it often happens that the names of certain family members (such as a new daughter-in-law or a newborn child) are missing from the Ayushman Card list, causing them to miss out on this excellent health insurance coverage. If a family member's name has not yet been added, you no longer need to make rounds of government offices. You can now add a new family member's name online from the comfort of your home using your smartphone or laptop.

Here are the complete details of this simple process:
Before starting the online process, ensure you have the following necessary documents ready:

*   Aadhaar Card: The Aadhaar card of the member whose name is to be added. (Note: The mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar to receive the OTP).

*   Ration Card / Family ID: The family's ration card, which includes the name of the new member.

*   Passport-sized Photo: A recent photograph of the member or the facility to capture a live photo.

*   Other Documents: A birth certificate or marriage certificate may also be submitted if required.

Easy Step-by-Step Process to Add a Name Online
The government has made this portal extremely user-friendly. You can easily add a name by following these steps:

1.  First, visit the Government of India's new Ayushman Bharat beneficiary portal: beneficiary.nha.gov.in.

2.  On the website's homepage, select the 'Beneficiary' option. Next, enter your active mobile number, input the OTP received on your phone, and log in to the portal.

3.  After logging in, select your State, the Scheme (PMJAY), and your District on the screen. 4. Search for your family details by entering your 'Ration Card Number' (Family ID) or the 'Aadhaar Number' of any existing, linked family member in the search bar.

5. Once the details are retrieved, a list of family members who already have a card will appear. Look for the 'Add Member' option above or next to this list and click on it.

6. Enter the Aadhaar number of the new member you wish to add and verify it using 'Aadhaar OTP'.

7. After verification is complete, take a live photo of the member and upload the ration card or any other required certificate (in PDF or image format) as a supporting document.

8. Finally, review all the details and 'Submit' the form.

What happens next?
After you submit the application, officials from the National Health Authority (NHA) will verify your documents. If the information provided and the ration card details are found to be correct, the new member's name will be approved under the scheme within a few days. You will then be able to easily download their new Ayushman card from the same portal.

Please note that there is no limit on the number of family members for this government scheme; all family members listed on the ration card are eligible for the scheme.

Contact for assistance
If you encounter any technical issues during the online process, you can visit your nearest CSC (Common Service Center) to get the name added. Additionally, for any complaints or assistance, you can call the national toll-free helpline number 14555.
