Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been continuously buying land in Ayodhya for the last few years. Now an interesting story related to this purchase has come to light. Abhinandan Lodha, founder and chairman of The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), told that in the year 2023, Amitabh Bachchan had called him at around 3 o'clock in the night. He expressed his desire to buy land in Ayodhya and after knowing the price, he transferred Rs 15 crore the very next day.
Abhinandan Lodha shared this during Hindustan Times India Next Real Estate Summit 2026. He told that he was in Australia at that time. There were some missed calls and a message from Amitabh Bachchan on his mobile. It was written in the message, “I am Amitabh Bachchan, call me when you get time.”
Lodha told that he immediately called Amitabh Bachchan back. During the conversation, Big B said that he is from Uttar Pradesh and he wishes to buy land in Ayodhya. On this Lodha assured that he would definitely do this work for them. After this Amitabh Bachchan asked the price of the land. Lodha initially hesitated in telling the price, but when Big B asked about buying 15,000 square feet of land, he estimated the price to be around Rs 15 crore. According to Lodha, the most surprising thing was that the very next day Amitabh Bachchan transferred the entire Rs 15 crore.
Even after this, Amitabh Bachchan continuously increased his investment in Ayodhya. According to media reports, in March 2026, he purchased 2.67 acres of land from HoABL for about Rs 35 crore. This was his third plot investment in Ayodhya and fourth with HoABL. This land is located near the company's 'The Saryu' project. Earlier in May 2025, Amitabh Bachchan had purchased a 25,000 square feet plot for about Rs 40 crore. At the same time, in 2024, he had purchased a 10,000 square feet plot in HoABL's 'The Saryu' project for Rs 14.5 crore.
Abhinandan Lodha says that Amitabh Bachchan's investment is an indication that he considers land not just as an investment but as a strong asset for the coming generations. He believes that due to the rapid infrastructure development and government investment in Ayodhya, this city is becoming one of the most attractive places in the country for long-term investment.
