Endrick has spoken candidly about his missed opportunity during Brazil’s shocking exit from the World Cup at the hands of Norway. The Real Madrid forward squandered a golden chance before Brazil fell to a 2-1 defeat, ending their campaign earlier than expected. The youngster has now vowed to learn from the painful moment and work relentlessly to help his country bounce back at the 2030 World Cup.

A painful exit for Brazil

As reported by the Brazilian outlet ge, Endrick left the stadium visibly frustrated with both his own performance and Brazil’s overall showing in the tournament. His missed chance came in the second half when the game was still goalless. Eventually, Brazil were knocked out of the competition following a 2-1 loss to Norway in the round of 16.

Reflecting on the miss, the young striker accepted responsibility and promised to use the experience as motivation for improvement. Speaking about the incident, Endrick said: “A lot. Afterwards, I even kept talking to God, I thanked him for the opportunity, but it was a moment where I could have done better. I couldn’t do it, but I thank God for that opportunity. Work to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

Looking ahead to 2030

In his assessment of his maiden World Cup experience, Endrick admitted that the tournament did not unfold as he had hoped, but he remains grateful for the chance to represent Brazil on football’s biggest stage. Despite the disappointment of an early exit, the teenager is determined to return stronger and secure his spot in the squad for the next edition.

Endrick added: “A World Cup that, of course, did not go the way I expected, but I thank God for the opportunity. It was a very difficult period to manage to get here. It was an experience. I will work hard over the next four years to be here again.”

Focus on the collective

When asked if he sees himself becoming Brazil’s key player in the next World Cup cycle, Endrick was quick to downplay the idea of being the sole focal point. Instead, he emphasised the significance of teamwork and collective effort as Brazil look to rebuild their confidence and identity. Highlighting that success depends on unity, he explained: “I will work hard. Hopefully I will not be the man, hopefully it will be everyone who is here, so we can do group work. It is the best for Brazil, with everyone doing a good job, so we don’t go through this again.”

What lies ahead for Brazil?

Following their worst World Cup campaign in 36 years, Carlo Ancelotti and his team are set to return home to reset and regroup. Brazil now have a break before resuming international action in September, when they are scheduled to play two friendlies against Australia. The first match will take place on September 25 in Townsville, followed by a second fixture on September 29 in Brisbane.
