Mamata Banerjee, the former CM of West Bengal, has suffered a big shock. ED has frozen three accounts related to TMC. Rs 440 crore is deposited in these three accounts. It is being told that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken this action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency conducted raids at several places in Kolkata to investigate alleged suspicious transactions made through party accounts and expenses on chartered aircraft.

In fact, ED had conducted raids at several places in Kolkata yesterday in connection with the alleged manipulation of TMC's bank accounts to purchase 'Embraer' aircraft and 'Agusta Westland' helicopter. Officials say that raids were conducted at about 5 locations in Kolkata. These also include the locations of 'Carewell Group of Companies'. It rents private jets under the name 'Carewell Aviation'.

This thing came to light in the investigation

  • According to officials, the agency's initial investigation has revealed that between April 2023 and June 2026, about Rs 160 crore was sent from TMC's bank accounts to the accounts of 'Carewell Aviation India Private Limited' and its associate unit. After this, the company deposited another huge amount of Rs 82.96 crore in the account of a new company between 2023 and 2026.
  • The investigation also revealed that out of this huge amount, Rs 112 crore was used to purchase 'Embraer Legacy 600' corporate aircraft and 'AgustaWestland 109SP' helicopter. Not only this, money received from abroad was also used to buy helicopters. The source of this entire amount was directly the bank accounts of TMC. Later both these aircraft were given on rent to TMC.
