Liverpool have reportedly made an approach to explore the signing of 17-year-old Mexican midfielder Gilberto Mora from Club Tijuana.

The talented youngster caught global attention after making four appearances for co-hosts Mexico at the 2026 FIFA World Cup earlier this summer, becoming the youngest player to be called up for the tournament.

This marks another milestone in Mora’s meteoric ascent. He already has 12 senior international caps to his name and holds the record as the youngest player ever to score in Mexico’s top division, achieving the feat at just 15 years and 320 days old.

Mora also made history as the youngest footballer to win a senior international trophy, playing a crucial role in Mexico’s Gold Cup triumph in 2025.

As reported by El Universal, Liverpool have now initiated talks to secure Mora’s services, while Arsenal are also believed to be preparing a competing offer. Club Tijuana have previously turned down bids from teams in Europe, MLS, and Brazil for the youngster, who is widely regarded as one of Mexico’s most promising football talents.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are also long-term admirers of the technically gifted midfielder. However, any potential transfer will have to wait until October, in line with FIFA regulations that prevent Mora from joining a foreign senior club until he turns 18.
