Manchester United are persisting in their efforts to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, even after being told by the south coast club that he is not available for transfer.

The 22-year-old has drawn attention from several Premier League sides, with Arsenal and Manchester City also showing interest in acquiring his services.

However, Bournemouth remain resolute in their desire to keep hold of the talented midfielder. The Cherries have made it clear that Scott is not for sale and are hopeful he will agree to a new contract.

Reports indicate that Scott has not yet committed to fresh terms, and it is believed he has even turned down Bournemouth's latest offer. According to The Sun, Manchester United are using this uncertainty as an opportunity to press ahead with their pursuit.

With two years remaining on his current deal, Bournemouth could face a decision this summer — either cash in now or risk losing Scott for a reduced fee, or potentially on a free transfer, in the future.

Manchester United view Scott as a priority target as they continue to rebuild their midfield. After missing out on Elliot Anderson, who joined Manchester City, and Mateus Fernandes, who opted for Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils are keen to add a marquee signing in the centre of the park.

The club have reportedly reached an agreement with Atalanta for a Brazilian international, but complications surrounding his medical are believed to be delaying the official announcement, as noted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Manager Michael Carrick is eager to strengthen his squad depth ahead of a demanding season that includes European competition. The need for reinforcements has become even more pressing following Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte's ACL injury sustained during his country's World Cup campaign.

Some reports suggest that an offer in the region of £80 million could persuade Bournemouth to sell, particularly after Scott turned down their contract proposal.

While Manchester United have not been discouraged by Bournemouth’s firm position, they are also exploring alternative midfield options. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni are reportedly among the other names under consideration.

Nevertheless, Scott remains the top priority for United. Yet, with multiple suitors monitoring his situation and uncertainty surrounding his future, completing a deal may prove challenging.
