Chelsea have officially announced the signing of promising winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP.

The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term deal that runs until 2034, as Chelsea continue their strategy of recruiting some of Europe’s most talented emerging footballers.

Quenda arrives in London after establishing himself as one of the brightest young prospects in Portuguese football during his stint with Sporting.

The teenager enjoyed a breakthrough season in Lisbon, playing a key role in helping Sporting clinch both the domestic league and cup titles, earning widespread acclaim for his impressive performances.

Known for his adaptability, Quenda can operate effectively on either wing, as a wing-back, or in more advanced attacking positions — a versatility that has significantly contributed to his rapid development.

He was honoured as the Primeira Liga Young Player of the Season in 2025.

Quenda also created history in European football by becoming the youngest Portuguese player ever to score in the UEFA Champions League.

His progress has been equally notable on the international stage.

The winger has become a regular feature for Portugal’s youth teams and was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

After finalising his move, Quenda shared his enthusiasm about joining the Premier League giants.

“It feels great to be here,” he told Chelsea’s official website. “Chelsea is a great team, and I am excited to play here at Stamford Bridge.”

The club’s management believes Quenda possesses the technical skill, physical attributes, and mindset to develop into a key player in the years ahead.

His arrival gives manager Xabi Alonso another dynamic attacking option as he continues reshaping the squad before the upcoming Premier League campaign.
