Importance and journey of Indus River

Indus River is considered an important part of Indian culture and history. For this reason, every year Sindhu-Darshan program is organized in Ladakh, in which thousands of devotees and tourists from across the country participate. This pilgrimage is of utmost importance especially for the residents of Bihar. However, many people find it difficult to complete this religious journey due to the expense of travel.

Objective of Financial Assistance Scheme

‘Sindhu Darshan Pilgrimage Financial Assistance Grant Scheme 2026’ has been started to introduce the permanent residents of Bihar to the sight of the Indus River in Ladakh and the Indian cultural heritage.

eligibility condition

To avail the benefits of this scheme, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar.

The age of the applicant must be 18 years or more.

The benefit of the grant will be available only after completing the journey, and the applicant will have to submit proof of the journey and documents to the expenditure.

A person can avail the benefits of this scheme only once in his life.

If a person has already benefited from other similar schemes of the state or central government, he will not be eligible for this grant.

Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided to a maximum of 100 pilgrims every financial year.

amount of grant

Under this scheme, pilgrims or travel groups will be given financial assistance of 50% of the travel expenses or a maximum of Rs 20,000 after completing the journey. This amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the pilgrims.

implementation of the plan

The process of grant payment under this scheme will be done by the Directorate of Tourism, Bihar Patna. Applicants will have to submit their application to the Directorate of Tourism, Patna along with Aadhaar, PAN, Permanent Residence Certificate and undertaking regarding travel expenses.

The Directorate of Tourism will scrutinize the applications and select 100 pilgrims on ‘first come first serve’ basis and proceed with the process of grant distribution.


Provisions to expenditure

Under this scheme, grant reimbursement will be given to a maximum of 100 tourists in a financial year, due to which a total expenditure of Rs 20,00,000 is possible in each financial year.
