Several standout performers from the World Cup in North America have reportedly caught Manchester United’s attention following their impressive displays on the global stage.

Among the names linked with the Red Devils, Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects. However, Newcastle United are believed to be leading the race to secure the services of the 20-year-old talent.

Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on Australian defender Lucas Herrington, who has drawn interest from European giants Barcelona and Liverpool as well.

Adding to their growing list of potential signings, the club have now been credited with an interest in a Paraguayan star following his remarkable World Cup performances.

According to reports from Argentine newspaper Clarín, relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Orlando Gill closely.

The 6ft 6in goalkeeper became a commanding presence for Paraguay during the tournament, delivering a string of excellent performances between the posts.

The 26-year-old, who currently represents Argentine club San Lorenzo, was named FIFA’s Player of the Match in games against both Germany and France.

Gill’s heroics in the penalty shootout against Germany were instrumental in helping Paraguay progress to the Round of 16.

Earlier reports have linked Aston Villa and Ipswich Town with interest in Gill, but the latest update suggests that Manchester United have now entered the race. Italian Serie A clubs Lazio and Torino are also said to be keeping a close eye on the player.

It has been widely reported that United are looking to bring in a second-choice goalkeeper to challenge Senne Lammens for the backup spot.

With Altay Bayındır expected to follow Andre Onana in leaving Old Trafford, the club are keen to secure a dependable deputy. However, it remains uncertain whether Gill would be willing to accept a secondary role given the interest he commands from several European sides.

The Red Devils have also been strongly linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is open to a summer move.
