Arsenal have officially finalised the signing of French goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who previously played for Leeds United.
The 26-year-old custodian began his journey in English football when he joined Leeds United on an initial loan transfer from Lorient, which was later made permanent following impressive performances.
During his time with the Yorkshire club, Meslier featured in 215 matches across all competitions. However, he lost his starting spot towards the conclusion of the 2024/25 season and did not make any appearances in the following campaign.
Speaking after completing his move to Arsenal, Meslier expressed his delight, stating, “I’m extremely happy. It’s a great day for me because I have just joined the champions. For me, Arsenal is the biggest club in England.”
He continued, “I’m very happy and very proud to join Arsenal. I cannot wait to show the love I have for this badge, and I cannot wait to win trophies with this team, because this is a club that needs to lift trophies again and again.”
Meslier is expected to serve as the third-choice goalkeeper under Mikel Arteta, behind first-choice David Raya and backup Kepa Arrizabalaga.
