Some of the biggest names in world football are stepping into the final season of their current club contracts, setting the stage for potential high-profile free transfers next summer.

From Ballon d'Or winners to Premier League record-breakers, several superstar players could be on the move when their deals end in 2027.

Vinicius Junior’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire next summer, with early speculation suggesting that the Brazilian winger could even leave during the current transfer window.

The 25-year-old has been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia as well as the Premier League, though he has repeatedly stated his desire to remain at Real Madrid.

Having registered 128 goals in 378 appearances for the Spanish giants, Vinicius has been a cornerstone of their recent dominance, contributing to three La Liga title wins and scoring in two Champions League final victories.

Even as he shares the spotlight with Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius has expressed his loyalty to the club, saying he hopes to end his career in Madrid.

“I enjoy every moment, I want to continue playing here my whole life, but I am also not in a rush to renew my contract,” he said in May. “We have an agreement until 2027, so until then we have a lot to talk about with Real Madrid, and Real Madrid with us.”

Harry Kane is another major name facing a crucial decision as his Bayern Munich contract nears its end. The English striker has been sensational in Germany, scoring 146 goals in 147 appearances while lifting two Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal.

Kane has also twice won the European Golden Shoe during his time with Bayern, leading the club to hail him as one of their best-ever acquisitions.

However, with his 33rd birthday approaching, Kane must decide whether to extend his stay in Germany or pursue a return to England. While he remains content in Munich—where Bayern are preparing another strong challenge for the Champions League—the temptation of breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal record could prove hard to resist. Kane is currently just 42 goals shy of that milestone and could consider returning to England in 2027 to make history.

Meanwhile, Rodri has shown no inclination to renew his contract with Manchester City, which is due to expire next summer. The 30-year-old midfielder has recently spoken about a possible return to La Liga, with Real Madrid reportedly among those interested. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner is said to be intrigued by the prospect of such a move.

Bruno Fernandes, who shattered the Premier League’s single-season assist record in 2025/26 by setting up 21 goals, is another star with a contract decision looming. His performances were instrumental in Manchester United’s return to the Champions League, continuing his consistent excellence amid a period of transition for the club.

Manchester United now face a key decision regarding their captain’s future. Fernandes will turn 32 in September, and while a new long-term deal would secure his leadership, it also carries risk for the club.

For Fernandes himself, the situation presents a personal crossroads. Despite his loyalty to Manchester United through challenging times, the Portuguese playmaker is still chasing major trophies. The question remains: are the Red Devils ready to compete for the top honours before time runs out for their talisman?
