Wolfsburg have announced that Christian Eriksen will begin a personalised rehabilitation programme in Denmark, roughly a month after the midfielder collapsed during an international match while representing his country. The Bundesliga side confirmed that they will maintain close communication with Eriksen and his medical specialists as he continues his journey toward full recovery.
Eriksen to start individual rehabilitation
Following an initial phase of medical treatment and careful observation, Wolfsburg decided that Eriksen would carry out his rehabilitation in Denmark. This decision was taken jointly by the player and the club, with his physical and mental well-being placed at the forefront. The arrangement enables the 34-year-old to recuperate in familiar surroundings and remain close to his family during the recovery process.
Return to Denmark finalised
The club confirmed, after discussions involving VfL’s managing director Dieter Hecking, that Eriksen would conduct his rehabilitation programme in his homeland. The move ensures that he can recover in a comfortable and supportive environment while staying near his loved ones.
By shifting the rehabilitation process to Denmark, Wolfsburg aim to provide the experienced playmaker with the best possible conditions for his long-term recovery. Although no official timeline has been established for his return to competitive football, both the club and Eriksen’s medical team have emphasised that his health and stability remain the top priorities.
Wolfsburg to remain in constant contact
Even though Eriksen will be based in Denmark, Wolfsburg will continue to play an active role in overseeing his rehabilitation. In an official statement, the club said: “Christian Eriksen will soon begin an individual rehabilitation programme. Following a discussion with VfL Wolfsburg’s managing director, Dieter Hecking, it was decided that the 34-year-old will complete this programme in his native Denmark. VfL Wolfsburg remains in regular contact with Christian and his doctors. We wish Christian all the best for his continued rehabilitation.”
Focus firmly on complete recovery
Eriksen’s recovery will proceed under the supervision of his Danish medical team, with consistent support from Wolfsburg. At this stage, no schedule has been set for his return to training or match play, as both the club and the player are focused entirely on achieving a full and sustainable recovery.
