Well-known Bollywood comedian and actor Rajpal Yadav is once again trapped in legal trouble. Delhi High Court has given a big blow to him and declared him guilty in the check bounce case. The court has not only upheld his sentence but has also made strict remarks on his attitude and changing statements so far. Considering his conduct as ‘suspicious’, the court has ordered the concerned authorities to immediately send him back to jail.
Rajpal Yadav was out on bail in this case for a long time, but this latest decision of the High Court has increased his problems. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment. If reports are to be believed, the court has adopted this tough stance due to Rajpal Yadav’s constantly changing statements and non-compliance of the conditions despite the court’s instructions.
This controversy dates back to the year 2010, when Rajpal Yadav had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from ‘M/s Murali Projects Private Limited’ for the production of his first directorial film ‘Aata Pata Lapata’. Sadly, the film flopped miserably at the box office. Since then, the dispute that started regarding loan repayment turned into a long legal battle.
Let us tell you that this matter has not come in the headlines for the first time. Earlier in April 2018, the Magistrate Court had convicted Rajpal Yadav and his wife Radha in this case and sentenced them to 6 months in jail. In the year 2019, the Sessions Court had also approved this decision, after which the actor approached the High Court.
In June 2024, the High Court had stayed his sentence with certain conditions and directed him to pay the dues. However, according to the court, Rajpal Yadav failed to fulfill his promises of payment, leading to his surrender on February 2. In an interview before going to jail, Rajpal Yadav had said emotionally, “Sir, what should I do? I have no money and can’t see any way.” At present, this legal battle has become even more challenging for the actor.
