Torino are reportedly assessing Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri as a candidate for their summer shortlist, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Serie A outfit are exploring multiple options to strengthen their goalkeeping department, and Perri is among those under consideration as a possible new No. 1.
Perri made the switch from Olympique Lyonnais to Leeds United last summer in a £16 million deal, joining with the expectation of becoming the first-choice goalkeeper. However, his debut season proved inconsistent and concluded with him being replaced by Karl Darlow in the starting lineup.
The 26-year-old featured in 16 Premier League matches, with his final league appearance coming in January. Errors in games against Manchester United and Newcastle United led to his demotion. He later made four additional appearances in the FA Cup.
Reports suggest that Perri is one of several names being evaluated by Torino, alongside former England international Aaron Ramsdale and Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill.
Currently, Perri remains Leeds United’s only contracted senior goalkeeper. Karl Darlow, Illan Meslier, and Alex Cairns have all seen their contracts expire, although Leeds are understood to have reached a fresh agreement with Cairns.
Leeds have reportedly offered Darlow a contract extension, while both Manchester United and Everton are believed to have made offers for the Welsh international, who is currently considering his options.
Illan Meslier is expected to join Premier League champions Arsenal, and further changes might occur if Darlow decides to move on. Leeds’ recruitment team are admirers of Japanese international Zion Suzuki, though reports from Italy about an active approach for him appear to be exaggerated.
The Yorkshire club may also keep an eye on developments within Manchester City’s goalkeeping roster. However, any pursuit of James Trafford would likely prove costly, as the 23-year-old is valued at around £40 million and has attracted significant interest from other clubs.
