Jordan Cox, a player for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), expressed his discontent after a private meeting with former Indian captain Virat Kohli was captured without their consent in London. This encounter took place just before Cox's Test debut against New Zealand at the Oval.
Kohli, who has been living in London since retiring from Test cricket, has been enjoying a break from the intense public scrutiny that often accompanies his fame. The star cricketer has been particularly protective of his children, Valmika and Akaay, and the intrusion into his personal life during what should be private moments has become a significant concern.
Images from their meeting quickly spread across social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), showcasing Kohli and Cox engaged in casual conversation at a local café in London, just prior to Cox's Test debut.
Cox shared his frustration regarding the lack of privacy Kohli experiences. In an interview with a media outlet, he highlighted the challenges of maintaining a normal life amidst constant public attention.
Cox recounted that Kohli texted him a few hours after their meeting, surprised by the photos that had surfaced online. He noted that while many people passed by them without acknowledging their presence, the sudden exposure left them both shocked.
"It's unfortunate how many people seek to intrude on his life. He simply wishes to enjoy a low-profile existence, but that is often unattainable," Cox remarked.
He further elaborated on Kohli's desire for a private life, stating, "He just wants to enjoy life without the constant spotlight, but that's not always feasible."
During the IPL 2026 season, Jordan Cox had the chance to work closely with Kohli at RCB. He was deeply impressed by Kohli's willingness to mentor younger players, noting that despite his numerous achievements, Kohli consistently prioritizes helping others.
"What stood out to me during the IPL was how much time he dedicated to me as a player. For someone with his level of success, his generosity in giving back is remarkable," Cox stated.
"While many focus solely on their own performance, Kohli is someone who always seeks to uplift others before himself, which is quite rare."
Virat Kohli is set to return to the field for the ODI series against England, commencing on July 14. He missed the Afghanistan ODIs due to a hamstring injury sustained during the IPL 2026 final, where RCB triumphed over the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Now that he has been cleared to play, Kohli is eager to strengthen the Indian team as they aim to improve their performance in ODIs following a challenging T20I series against Ireland and England.
