Datia Violence: The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh has made Ashutosh Tiwari its candidate for the Datia Assembly by-election and the party has canceled the ticket of senior leader Narottam Mishra. Angered by this, Mishra’s supporters clashed with the police and blocked the National Highway. During this, Datia Superintendent of Police and many policemen were injured. After which the security forces cleared the highway and arrested some protesters.

Actually, by-election for Datia assembly seat is going to be held on July 30. By-election is being held here after the conviction of the sitting Congress MLA. It is being told that the state Former Home Minister Narottam Mishra had purchased nomination forms for this by-election and was also holding meetings continuously. But, BJP has made Ashutosh Tiwari its candidate. Due to which the supporters of Narottam Mishra became very angry. Angered by the denial of Mishra’s ticket, BJP supporters created a ruckus on Friday evening and many divisional officials resigned.

during this time Narottam Mishra’s Thousands of supporters blocked Jhansi Highway and closed shops. Men and women lay down on the road. There is a 7 KM long jam in Dabra. Meanwhile, BJP District President Raghuveer Singh resigned. In the resignation letter, it is written that the District Panchayat President, all Nagar Panchayat Chairman, District-City President including 291 booths and the entire executive have resigned.

Datia Superintendent of Police and several policemen were injured in violent clashes on NH-44 when over 3,000 protesters blocked the road for nearly 12 hours, police officials said; Security forces later cleared the highway and arrested some protesters. Datia Collector Swapnil Wankhede told journalists that the angry workers blocked the National Highway for about 11-12 hours. Despite being asked to vacate the road, they threw stones at the police, following which the police had to use tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Wankhede said that Datia SP, other senior officers and soldiers were injured, but also clarified that the police did not lathicharge the protesters. The angry mob damaged police and other vehicles, but the road was later cleared and the situation is now under control. SP Mayur Khandelwal told PTI that over 3,000 protesters disrupted peace in Datia city, tried to shut down markets and blocked roads for 12 hours. More than six policemen were injured in stone pelting.
