Last Tuesday, Meta introduced a whole new series of AI models, Muse Images. And since then, the controversy has raged. Finally, it was revealed that Meta has suddenly stopped the feature. Allegedly, the privacy of users is being violated in that feature of Instagram.
It was learned that Meta was using photos ‘publicized’ by Instagram and Facebook to create their ‘muse image’. And this made many users angry. Claims, the AI model is easily including real people in these AI images! Meta’s own policy states ‘Users can create content on Meta using AI features. And you won’t even be notified when AI creates content in Meta.’
The new feature allows Instagram public accounts to be tagged. And used the content of those accounts to quickly create AI-generated content and images. And severe criticism started around this. Meta also admitted that they failed to meet their goals. And that’s why now that feature is showing ‘No Longer Available’. That means the feature is no longer available.
More controversies have arisen surrounding Meta in the recent past. According to an investigative report by BBC i, Instagram is promoting paid ads with words like ‘rape videos’ and ‘child videos’. Allegedly, such illegal videos were sold through users’ Telegram channels. The Center took action only after the report came to light. Officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had already written to the relevant organizations after receiving the directive from the Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnab, seeking a detailed explanation in this regard. Meta has been asked to respond within seven days regarding the steps taken to remove such ads from Instagram.
