He continued, “Only eleven can start, and everyone understands their role and what’s expected of them. When they come on, they know exactly what to do, and that’s why it’s a joy to coach them. Merino is a complete, multi-purpose footballer; he has played as a defensive midfielder, a number 6, 8, 10, and even as a 9 — and he performs well in all of them.”

De la Fuente further added, “He possesses a wide range of skills and can play in different roles while maintaining top-level performance. He can be a centre forward, an attacking midfielder, or a playmaker. His reading of the game is exceptional — he understands the team’s needs perfectly. His attitude towards football and life is one of dedication and unity, even though he’s a star player. At one point, we even considered bringing him on as a centre forward, and the situation worked out just as we hoped.”
