Akansha Ranjan Kapoor’s close-knit wedding ceremony with Sharan Sharma was made special by her girl gang. Her bridesmaids, including Alia Bhatt, were seen adding final touches to her look for the big day. Akansha and Sharan opted for a registered marriage at home on July 11. The newlyweds will be hosting a grand reception for their Bollywood friends and colleagues today (July 12) at Mumbai’s JW Marriott. Pictures and videos from the quiet and intimate wedding ceremony went viral on social media. In one of the videos, Alia could be seen fulfilling a bridesmaid’s duty.

In the viral video, Alia could be seen sitting next to the bride,   Dressed in a gorgeous grey and gold embroidered saree, Bhatt tied a kaleera around her wrist before the ceremony. Alia looked stunning as she paired the traditional outfit with statement earrings and a maangtika.

 

Akansha and  are childhood friends. The former is the younger daughter of Anu and Shashi Ranjan. Their families have been close for years now. Akansha and Alia often go on vacations with their other friends. They shared the screen space for a couple of minutes in Vasan Bala-directed Jigra.

For the wedding, Akansha wore a red saree designed by Arpita Mehta. She kept her look simple, traditional and elegant. Sharing pictures on Instagram, Akansha wrote, “tu na toh ghar ghar nahi lagta, tu hain toh darr nahi lagta.” The caption is the lyrics of the popular song, Tu Hai Toh, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, from Mr And Mrs Mahi.

 

Akansha and Sharan’s pre-wedding festivities kicked off with their sangeet and cocktail on Friday (July 10). Her friends, Alia and Vaani Kapoor, joined the star-studded ceremony in Mumbai. Poonam Sinha and Sonakshi Sinha attended along with Janhvi Kapoor.

Akansha made her acting debut with Guilty in 2020. After the Netflix film, she featured in Monica, O My Darling on the same platform. She made her first big-screen appearance in  as an air hostess. On OTT, Akansha was recently seen in the second season of Gram Chikitsalay and Ikka, where she played the role of Soma Mittal.

Sharan is a director and started his directorial career with Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl on Netflix. He worked with her again in Mr And Mrs Mahi (2024), which was a theatrical release.
