Marcus Rashford: What the Manchester United Star Plans After the World Cup

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is experiencing a summer he would rather forget.

Despite posting an impressive tally of 14 goals and 14 assists, Barcelona opted not to make his loan deal permanent. Instead, the Spanish club decided to invest heavily in bringing in Anthony Gordon.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has also favoured Gordon over Rashford during the ongoing World Cup campaign.

Rashford’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain ahead of the next season. The 28-year-old departed Manchester United at the start of 2025 after his relationship with the club deteriorated.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rashford plans to hold direct discussions with Michael Carrick once the World Cup concludes. The England international has already informed United that he will be available to join their pre-season preparations.

Romano stated, “Rashford will start pre-season with Man United and then if there is a proposal on the table, Rashford and United will consider that.”

Former United manager Erik ten Hag once described Rashford as “unstoppable.” The striker has scored once in four World Cup appearances in North America.

Meanwhile, a report by The Guardian indicated that Manchester United are open to reducing their wage bill by moving on the England forward.

Rashford currently earns around £17.5 million annually, but reports suggest there is a “lack of requisite suitors for him.”

United are eyeing reinforcements for their left wing this summer and are showing strong interest in West Ham United’s winger Crysencio Summerville.

Earlier in the month, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that United have initiated talks with West Ham regarding a possible transfer for Summerville.

However, any move for the dynamic Dutch winger or another attacking option is expected to depend on whether Rashford is sold.
