We often tell the stories of happiness and success of our life to others. Many people believe that happiness increases by sharing, whereas on the contrary, it is stated in the religious scriptures that a person should not boast of his success. According to religious experts, promoting one’s happiness too much can cause a person to get evil eyes and his happiness can reduce due to negative influences. At the same time, it is also said in the religious scriptures that by talking too much about success, a person becomes arrogant and this arrogance can become the reason for his failure in the future.

Any person achieves success only by hard work and overcoming challenges. In such a situation he often tells others about his success. However, it is not necessary that the other person is happy with his success. For this reason, it has been told through verses in different texts of Hindu religion that success should not be boasted about. Now the question arises that what has been said about this in Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharata.

What is written in Bhagavad Gita?

It is said in Bhagavad Gita that when a person gets success after hard work, then he should not boast about his success because it is not necessary that he gets success every time he works hard, sometimes failure can happen even after hard work. Therefore, a person should have equal respect for both success and failure. Also, one should avoid boasting about success. In this connection, Shri Krishna has described the qualities of an ideal person.

He is free from attachment, non-egoistic, and endowed with patience and enthusiasm.
The doer who is free from change in perfection and incompleteness is called Sattvic.

The meaning of this verse is that the person who remains free from the greed for results after doing any work, does not get too happy on getting success and does not get too sad on getting failure, he is considered an ideal person. This clearly indicates that one should not get too excited and boast about success.

to reveal a fault

It is said in a verse of Mahabharata that due to various defects, the qualities of a person get destroyed. When people get success, they become proud of their achievements, which is considered a demerit of a person in religious scriptures.

Anger kills prosperity, and ignobleness kills forgiveness.
An ignoble man kills his heart and an ignoble man kills his family here.

The meaning of this verse is that just as excessive anger destroys a person’s property, similarly boasting about one’s achievements destroys one’s knowledge and wisdom. Therefore, a person should avoid boasting and boasting about his success.
