Harry Kane believes England have yet to produce their best football at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite reaching the semi-finals where they will face Argentina on Wednesday.

England booked their place in the last four after defeating Norway in extra time, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice in a dramatic victory. It marks England's fourth semi-final appearance in their last five major international tournaments.

Following the match, head coach Thomas Tuchel criticized parts of his team's display, describing aspects of the performance as "sloppy." Kane agreed that England can improve but emphasized that reaching the semi-finals is already a significant achievement.

"We know we can play better," Kane said. "At the same time, we're in a World Cup semi-final, and that's something we should appreciate. The manager knows the quality we have. He sees what we're capable of in training and wants us to reproduce that level consistently during matches."

Kane acknowledged that performing at the highest level is never easy, especially against elite opponents.

"We're facing some of the strongest teams in the world," he explained. "The manager is pushing us to reach our full potential, and we believe there's still another level we can find."

The Bayern Munich striker admitted England have only shown flashes of their best form throughout the tournament.

"We've seen it in moments, including against Norway, but we haven't controlled games as much as we'd like. That's something we can improve," Kane said. "Still, it's encouraging that we've reached the semi-finals while knowing we can perform even better."

He also praised the team's overall effort against Norway, highlighting both their defensive discipline and attacking quality.

"The team defended well together, created some excellent chances, and Jude stepped up with two important goals," Kane added. "There are plenty of positives to take from the performance, and now our focus is on taking another step forward against Argentina."
