We all would agree to the fact that bullet trains remain one of the most awaited railway projects in India. Good news is, the project has reached a significant milestone. The first section of the country's inaugural high-speed rail corridor is expected to start phased passenger operations starting August 15, 2027. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor uses Japanese Shinkansen technology and is partially funded by JICA. It is an important announcement as it signals a major boost for southern India, as Hyderabad has been identified as a major hub for three proposed high-speed rail corridors .
For travellers, this means a beginning of a new phase in domestic travel, promising faster journeys and improved connectivity.
Ministry of Railways took to X and posted a video with the caption:

Hyderabad to get three proposed bullet train corridors
What’s the role of Telangana
Hyderabad has been identified as the junction for three proposed high-speed rail corridors:
Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad
Hyderabad-Bengaluru
Hyderabad-Chennai
Hyderabad is among one of India's fastest-growing tourism destinations. With this, the city could become an even bigger gateway for travellers heading towards Bengaluru, Chennai and western India.
For travellers, the project not only promises faster journeys but also a new way of exploration. While further approvals are needed for Hyderabad's proposed high-speed corridors before becoming reality, their inclusion in the national high-speed rail roadmap shows that India's bullet train network is expected to extend far and well beyond the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.
