Manchester United are reportedly in advanced discussions to secure the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans, as per recent reports.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, all parties are currently in communication as United work towards finalising a deal for the Belgium international.

The report further stated that Tielemans is eager to complete the move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United were also exploring a possible transfer for Atalanta midfielder Ederson; however, that move has been put on hold for now, though the club may revisit their interest later in the summer transfer window.

Tielemans, aged 29, joined Aston Villa from Leicester City on a free transfer in 2023 and has since become an integral part of Unai Emery’s midfield setup.

The Belgian star has previously represented Anderlecht, Monaco and Leicester City, notably scoring the decisive goal in Leicester’s 2021 FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

Should the transfer go through, it would provide a significant boost to Michael Carrick’s midfield options ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. As of now, neither Manchester United nor Aston Villa have issued any official statements regarding the ongoing negotiations.
