One of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has parted ways with their head coach Stephen Fleming and will no longer be a part of their set-up. Fleming had joined CSK as a player in the inaugural edition of the tournament, but soon he moved to coaching duties the next season.
CSK made this announcement on their official website on Monday, July 13, mentioning that the franchise and Fleming were engaged in honest conversation regarding the future of the team in the IPL ahead of their next season. Although CSK hasn’t announced any replacement yet, according to a report in the Times of India (TOI), Hemant Badani can be a possible replacement fit for the franchise. Hemant Badani has previously coached Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2026.

According to reports, the CSK officials are in Dallas, where they have been reviewing the team’s performance in the past few seasons.
According to the TOI report:
"The franchise (CSK) is reviewing its cricket operations, with former India batter Hemang Badani emerging as a contender to join the coaching set-up. The franchise's top brass is currently in Dallas, reviewing the last few seasons and planning the road ahead."
Fleming’s coaching started on a high note, but CSK’s performances had been going low in the last few seasons. A team that consistently used to make it through to the playoffs had started fumbling during the group stages. The five-time champions narrowly missed the playoffs in 2024, then finished 10th in 2025, and they finished 8th in the latest edition.
Stephen Fleming and CSK were associated for nearly two decades. Fleming’s track record as head coach will remain etched in the history books. Under his guidance, CSK reached 11 finals, 10 in the IPL and one in the Champions League, winning six titles.
