Spain are set to face France in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup later today at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington.

France’s star forward Kylian Mbappe is in brilliant form, joined by Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele and Bundesliga Player of the Season Michael Olise, both of whom have been in outstanding touch.

Lamine Yamal recognises that Spain will be under immense pressure to perform, yet the team draws confidence from their victories in the last two encounters against the 2018 World Cup champions.

Yamal, who celebrated his 19th birthday yesterday, underlined the magnitude of the occasion, telling journalist Fabrizio Romano, “This is the biggest and most important game of my career, no doubts.”

Nevertheless, the Barcelona forward insists that he thrives on such challenges.

“There are situations tougher than a match,” he remarked. “I need to stay calm. I know what I’m capable of, and I don’t feel the slightest bit of anxiety.”

He also pointed out that Spain, being the reigning European champions, have no reason to fear any opponent, adding that the semi-final would be a particularly memorable occasion.

The contest is shaping up to be a thrilling one, as France aim for a third consecutive World Cup final appearance.

However, they must overcome a Spanish side known for their tactical intelligence and ability to grind out results under pressure.

Other than Yamal, Spain may not boast the same individual star power as France, but their strength lies in teamwork and balance across the pitch.

If they manage to deliver a strong performance, they have every chance of upsetting the favourites and sending France home — though the task will be considerable.

Les Bleus, meanwhile, appear well-equipped to go all the way once again, driven by their dynamic attack and commanding midfield presence.

France’s central defensive duo, Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba, have been quietly outstanding, providing a solid foundation at the back.

With proven winners across the squad, the French team seem determined to take the game to Spain and secure another shot at the title.
