Actress Carey Mulligan, best known for her role in 'Beef', has now joined the cast of 'The Bell Jar'. According to Variety's report, Billie Eilish is in the lead role in this film.
Although the studio has not yet formally announced the project, sources tell Variety that Mulligan will play Mrs. Greenwood, the mother of Billie Eilish's lead character, Esther Greenwood, in the film. The film is based on the famous novel by Sylvia Plath. Sara Polley will direct this film. Plan B, StudioCanal and Joy Coalition are producing the project. Rumor has it that 'Heated Rivalry' star Connor Storey may also be involved.
According to the outlet, Mulligan has been nominated for an Oscar three times for her acclaimed films "An Education," "Promising Young Woman" and Bradley Cooper's "Maestro." Along with Oscar Isaac, Mulligan garnered praise for her stellar performance in the second season of Lee Sung Jin's "Beef" on Netflix this year. She was also recently nominated for Best Supporting Actress by BAFTA for another Focus title, "The Ballad of Wallis Island".
Her other films include "Saltburn," "Drive," "Shame," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Far from the Madding Crowd," "Suffragette," "Mudbound" and "She Said."
