WhatsApp Backup Update: If your Google Drive or Apple iCloud gets full again and again and due to WhatsApp chat backup you have to delete your photos or important files, then soon you will get a solution to this problem. Reports have revealed that Meta-owned WhatsApp is preparing to launch its own cloud backup system. If this happens, then users will not have to completely depend on Google Drive or iCloud for chat backup.
WABetaInfo reported that this new feature was first seen in the beta version of iOS 26.28.10.16. It is likely to be rolled out for iPhone users in the initial phase. After this, Android users can also get this facility. Along with this, it was told in the report that WhatsApp will initially give 2GB free cloud storage to all the users. But the existing backup option of Google Drive and iCloud will also be available so that users can choose the backup method as per their need.
For information, let us tell you that if the size of your WhatsApp backup is more than 2GB, then the company can also offer a paid storage plan. In such a situation, initial information says that the price of 50GB storage plan can be around 0.99 dollars which can be around 80 to 85 rupees per month. There is also talk of introducing a 1TB storage plan for users who need more data. But these prices are based on early reports and may change at the time of the official launch.
It is being seen that the biggest feature of WhatsApp’s new Cloud Backup is its security. The report states that End-to-End Encryption will be on by default and there will be no option to turn it off. With which users will be able to protect their backup with passkey, password or 64-digit encryption key. This simply means that no one will be able to read your private chats except you. Not only this, it is being claimed that even WhatsApp or Meta will not be able to access these backups.
Please note that this feature is currently in the development stage. According to WABetaInfo, work is underway on it for both Android and iOS platforms. But the company has not yet announced its launch date. It is believed that in the coming months it can be released for all users after beta testing.
