New Delhi: Nowadays, many people stop natural body functions like gas, burping, sneezing, yawning to appear smart or polite in front of others. In the beginning it may seem normal, but if this habit becomes a daily habit then it can have a bad effect on health. According to Ayurveda, when the body signals any need like hunger, thirst, sleep, urination or defecation, then it should not be ignored. Repeatedly suppressing these needs can upset the body’s balance and lead to many health problems.
Many people hold urine or stool for a long time due to busy work, travel or lack of clean toilet. But doing so can be harmful for health. This may increase the problem of constipation. Frequent stopping of urination can also increase the risk of bladder and kidney problems.
Often people try to stop gas or burping in public places, but it is not right to do so again and again, it can cause problems like flatulence, stomach ache, heartburn and acidity.
Many people try to stop sneezing or yawning when they are in a meeting or among people. But these are natural functions of the body, stopping them repeatedly can cause tension or discomfort in the head, neck and face.
Due to busy work schedule, many people do not eat food on time or postpone drinking water, but doing so for a long time can make the body weak, cause dizziness and feel tired.
Often people feel that crying is a sign of weakness, so they suppress their emotions. But it is not right to stop your feelings every time, doing so can increase stress and also affect mental health.
