The Election Commission has announced an extension of the counting period and the deadline for the final voter list under the 'Special Intensive Revision' (SIR) in Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, and Karnataka. In both Delhi and Karnataka, the counting period has been pushed from July 29 to August 8. The draft of the voter list is now set to be released on August 17, a delay from the original deadline of August 5. Claims and objections can be submitted from August 17 to September 16, with the final list expected to be published on October 19, twelve days later than the previously scheduled date of October 7.

In Punjab, the deadline for booth-level officers (BLOs) to gather information door-to-door has been extended to August 3, with the draft voter list to be released on August 13. The period for submitting claims and objections will run from August 13 to September 12, and the final voter list will be published on October 12. In Telangana, the door-to-door verification process will continue until August 3, with the draft voter list set for release on August 10. Claims and objections can be filed from August 10 to September 9, and the final list will also be published on October 12.

Earlier, on July 14, the counting period for Haryana and Andhra Pradesh was extended to July 24. The draft voter list for these states is scheduled for release on July 31, with the final publication set for October 3.

The Commission has also approved a one-time special compensation of ₹6,000 for each BLO and BLO supervisor involved in the SIR process. According to a letter from the Election Commission, "I have been instructed to inform that considering the volume and nature of work involved in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, the Commission has approved a one-time payment of ₹6,000 to each BLO and BLO supervisor in addition to their annual salary."
