Aamir Khan's private wedding with longtime partner Gauri Spratt on July 5, 2026 was much talked about on social media. However, the absence of his ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao in this wedding raised many questions in the minds of people. Now Aamir Khan's close friend Amin Haji has spoken openly on this entire matter for the first time. He told why both of them did not attend the wedding, how the family adopted Gauri Spratt and how the relationship between Aamir, Reena and Kiran continues even today. Besides, Aamir also presented his side on the 'Love Jihad' controversy.
Aamir Khan's close friend Amin Haji told Rediff. In a conversation with com, Kiran Rao was in Britain at the time of the wedding, while her son Azad specially returned to Mumbai and attended the wedding. He said, "Kiran was in Britain at that time, while Azad had returned to Mumbai to attend the wedding. It is natural for some people to not be present on any occasion. Sometimes giving someone their space is also a way of expressing love and respect. On such a special occasion, you do not want to make someone uncomfortable."
Amin Haji told that despite not attending the wedding, the relationship between Aamir Khan, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao is still based on respect and trust. He said, "Aamir, Satyajit Bhatkal, Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta still work together professionally through Paani Foundation." Amin Haji also shared an old incident. He told, "When Reena Dutta's father passed away, Aamir asked me and Karim to help. At that time Reena was on a trip and Aamir remained present there till all the funeral rituals were completed."
Amin Haji praised Reena Dutta, saying, "Reena was like a strong rock. She took on the responsibility of making 'Lagaan' because she knew Aamir needed her support at that time. There were differences of opinion regarding budget and production, but Aamir never ignored her opinion. There was always deep respect between the two. When Aamir told us that he and Reena were parting ways, I was heartbroken."
According to Amin Haji, Gauri Spratt was not accepted by the family in one day, but it happened gradually. He said, "People ask me what Aamir's children think about Gauri. The truth is that it was not a sudden relationship. Aamir and Gauri knew each other for many years. Gauri is a friend of Imran Khan. She was gradually introduced to Ira, Junaid and Azad. Aamir has taken every relationship with her. Showed full respect. Azad, Quinn, Aamir's mother, his aunt Radha and the entire family are seen together. This was his effort to make everyone feel a part of this family.
Amidst the controversy over 'Love Jihad' on social media, Aamir Khan also clarified about the religion of his wife Gauri Spratt. He said, "Gauri is a Christian by birth, not a Hindu. However, she does not actively follow any religion." Aamir's statement came at a time when questions were raised on religious grounds about his marriage and reports of a fatwa allegedly being issued came to light.
