After the death of Salbeg, a tomb was built in his memory in Puri. When the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath passed that place, the chariot automatically stopped there. Despite many efforts the chariot did not move forward. Then devotees considered it as God's love and respect for his devotee. As soon as devotee Salbeg was remembered, the chariot moved forward again. Since then, every year during the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, the Nandighosh chariot is stopped for some time in front of the Samadhi of Salbeg. This tradition is considered a symbol of the unbreakable love of God and devotee.
