Marcus Rashford: Carrick to make final decision after pre-season assessment

Manchester United have officially completed three summer signings, but any additional arrivals are expected to be delayed.

According to reports from The Peoples Person, INEOS will now concentrate on player outgoings, with Marcus Rashford among those identified as potential departures.

Barcelona decided against activating their £26 million purchase option, and Manchester United made it clear to the Catalan side that another loan deal would not be considered.

The club is keen to reduce the English forward’s substantial wage bill, which was one of the main reasons Bayern Munich opted not to pursue a transfer.

However, Michael Carrick has extended an opportunity to his former teammate, and the 28-year-old is set to return to Carrington for pre-season training following England’s World Cup exit.

Club career statistics

There has been speculation linking Rashford with a move to Fenerbahce, but those rumours have been dismissed by Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported that Carrick wishes to work directly with Marcus Rashford to assess whether he possesses the right mindset and commitment to reintegrate into the team.

If the familiar issues that have affected the England international’s performances resurface, he may find himself leaving Old Trafford.

“Marcus Rashford is not considering a move to Turkey at this stage of his career. Michael Carrick is looking forward to working with Marcus Rashford,” Romano noted. “He wants to see Rashford, gauge his attitude and emotions, and then decide whether he will remain or depart from the club.”

Considering how Rashford’s relationship with Manchester United deteriorated under former head coach Ruben Amorim, a clean separation may ultimately benefit both sides.

Nonetheless, due to limited transfer funds, United might choose to retain Rashford rather than pursue Crysencio Summerville.

Should that happen, players like Noussair Mazraoui or Lisandro Martinez could be offloaded, with AC Milan and Atletico Madrid reportedly showing interest.
