The troubles of former Thackeray group MP Vinayak Raut and his family are increasing. A case has been registered against Vinayak and Geetesh Raut on the complaint of his daughter-in-law Girija Raut. The police custody of alleged Tantrik Firoz Shaikh alias Baba arrested in this case has been extended once again. Thane Court has sent him to police custody till July 18.
Firoz Sheikh alias Baba was produced in Thane court for the third time. During the hearing, the police told the court that the second accused arrested in the case, Ram Yallappa Vadar, is also in police custody till July 18. It is necessary for the investigation to interrogate both the accused face to face, which can reveal many important aspects of the case.
The police also told the court that till now during the investigation, action has been taken outside the state and many important evidence and materials have been seized. Investigation was also conducted in Sindhudurg, due to which sufficient time could not be given for interrogation. At the same time, accused Firoz Shaikh's lawyer Yakub Khache opposed the extension of police custody and said that his client has already been interrogated twice.
He raised the question as to why the other accused included in the FIR have not been arrested yet despite the anticipatory bail pleas of them being rejected. The defense also said that if necessary, interrogation can also be done in judicial custody. Advocate Sagar Kadam, appearing for complainant Girija Raut, said in the court that many important evidences have been found during the investigation and joint interrogation of Firoz Shaikh and Ram Yallappa Vadar is very important.
He alleged that Ram Yallappa Vadar used to provide material used in rituals to the alleged Tantrik and later also used to dispose of it. Advocate Sagar Kadam also told that the complainant has demanded police protection for his safety. He says that after the arrest of other accused in the case, more important revelations are likely to be made in the investigation.
At present, after hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court has extended the police custody of Firoz Shaikh till July 18. Now all eyes are on the further police investigation and possible revelations in this matter.
