Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Notice to Shut Down Business Issued to Accused Siya’s Family Shop

A total of 4,172 kg of goods worth Rs 8.14 lakh were seized during the investigation.

Pune. Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a notice to the spice and dry fruit shop of the family of Sia Goyal, accused in the murder of Pune real estate businessman Ketan Aggarwal, for violation of rules. The regulator has directed to stop the functioning of the shop with immediate effect. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.

Sources said the shop is run by ‘M/s BG Goyal and Company’, which belongs to the family of currently jailed Siya Goyal (20). This shop is located in the ‘Market Yard’ area located in the heart of Pune city.

Officials said that after the FDA team inspected the shop premises, it has been asked to completely stop business activities till further orders. According to the FDA, its officials inspected the establishment and collected four samples of food products, including ‘Sant’ and ‘Sadhu’ brand turmeric powder, sesame seeds and soybean wadis.

The regulator said that a total of 4,172 kg of goods worth Rs 8.14 lakh have been seized during the investigation on suspicion of incorrect or incomplete information written on these products (violation of labeling norms) and possible adulteration. The Food Safety Regulatory Authority said the action was taken after the company was found to be non-compliant with certain mandatory rules under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act.

The FDA also said the establishment had failed to make required corrections to its license statement. “In view of these violations, a notice has been issued directing the establishment to stop its business activities till further orders,” an official said.

Sia Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary (22) are accused of pushing Sia’s fiance Ketan Aggarwal (25) into a ditch while climbing a hill at Lohagarh Fort in Pune district on June 18, leading to his death.
