The admission process for the new academic session has begun in schools across the Chitrakoot district of Bundelkhand. If you are looking to provide your children with a quality education, there is good news: the application process for admission to Class 6 at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, located in the Manikpur Patha region of the district, has started. Interested students can apply online for admission to the school.
**One Navodaya Vidyalaya for Banda and Chitrakoot**
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are among the country's select residential schools, offering students free education along with accommodation, meals, books, and other amenities. This is the only Navodaya Vidyalaya serving both the Chitrakoot and Banda districts; it operates in the Patha region of Manikpur. Selection for admission is based on a written examination and merit. To apply for Class 6, students must currently be studying in Class 5. Additionally, the candidate's date of birth must fall between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017. Crucially, special priority is given to students from rural areas; 75 percent of the total seats are reserved for rural students, while 25 percent are available for students from urban areas.
**Apply by July 31**
Principal Sapna Singh stated that online registration for admission has commenced. She mentioned that students meeting the prescribed age limit and other eligibility criteria can apply by visiting www.navodaya.gov.in by July 31. She urged as many parents as possible to register their children. The application process is entirely free and conducted online; interested candidates can submit their applications until July 31, 2026. Subsequently, the entrance examination will be held on November 28, 2026. Successful students will be granted admission based on the merit list.
Selected students receive excellent facilities.
In this regard, District Magistrate Pulkit Garg stated that the admission process for Class 6 at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Chitrakoot has commenced. Here, all facilities—including education, hostel accommodation, meals, and books—are provided to the children entirely free of cost.
