On Friday, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk declared his intention to survive until July 20, marking the 20th day of his indefinite hunger strike. Medical professionals have warned that his prolonged fasting has led to a critical health condition. Meanwhile, the protest by the Cockroach Public Party (CJP) against alleged irregularities in examinations has reached its 28th day at Jantar Mantar. Wangchuk has urged a large turnout for the proposed march to Parliament on July 20.

Addressing supporters at the protest site, Wangchuk acknowledged his weakened physical state but emphasized that his resolve remains strong. He stated, 'I may be weak on the outside, but I am very strong on the inside. I believe all of you are strong both inside and out. We need this energy for July 20 when we will peacefully march to the temple of democracy to voice our concerns.'

Wangchuk asserted, 'I will remain alive until July 20 at any cost. If you do not come and the event fails, I will return as a ghost.' His doctors warned on Thursday that his health has reached a precarious stage, cautioning that continuing the fast could lead to severe complications, including organ damage.

Wangchuk has refused to end his fast, arguing that doing so without a response from the government would send the wrong message. He emphasized that the focus should now be on ensuring the success of the march to Parliament on July 20. The Delhi High Court has also taken note of the situation, instructing authorities to monitor Wangchuk's health daily and provide medical assistance if his condition deteriorates.
