Usha Vance, the Second Lady of the United States, has welcomed her fourth child, as confirmed by the office of Vice President JD Vance. The family shared their joy on X, stating, "We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, born this morning. Both Usha and the baby are doing well, and our children are excited to meet their new brother." At 40 years old, Usha Vance has made history as the first woman to give birth while her spouse serves as vice president since the 1870s. The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, now has four children: three sons and a daughter, aged between four and nine years.

The announcement of Usha's pregnancy came in January, with the couple revealing that their new addition was expected in late July. Earlier this year, JD Vance mentioned that he might not take parental leave following the birth, as he was busy promoting his book. During a White House event in Michigan in March, he humorously recounted how he convinced his wife to expand their family. "When we decided to run for vice president, I told her, 'I really want a fourth child.' She replied, 'You can either be vice president or have another baby,'" he shared. "But I am persuasive, and I managed to achieve both!"

In a subsequent interview with NBC News, Usha Vance reflected on how her husband encouraged her to consider having another child, despite initially thinking their family was complete after their daughter. "As time went on, I found myself increasingly excited about the possibility of another child," she explained. "I realized I would be content with three kids or four, and here we are now." This announcement coincides with reports that the Vance family is contemplating leasing a residence in Middleburg, Virginia, in addition to their official home at the Naval Observatory in Washington, DC. According to sources, the US Secret Service is preparing to enhance security for the new rural property.
