The political atmosphere in the capital Delhi heated up on Monday amid the Parliament session, when top Congress leaders marched towards the Prime Minister's residence and demonstrated strongly against the central government. Congress alleges that the government is avoiding accountability in the case of alleged atrocities on students. During the demonstration, the police detained many Congress leaders and workers.
Many senior leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Pawan Kheda reached the Prime Minister's residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. Here they protested demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Rahul Gandhi said on social media that Congress has marched to the Prime Minister's residence to demand answers for the alleged brutality against students. He alleged that the government neither wants to fix accountability in this matter nor is ready to discuss the issue in Parliament. Rahul Gandhi demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, saying that the government is playing with the future of the youth.

Police detained many workers during the protest. Congress workers kept raising slogans continuously during the protest. After this, Delhi Police took many leaders and workers into custody. Congress alleges that the government is not showing seriousness on the issues related to students and is avoiding discussion in Parliament. Through this demonstration, the opposition accused the central government of ignoring the interests of the youth.
After being detained, Congress MP K. Suresh criticized the police action. He said the protesting leaders and activists were "brutally" detained. According to him, the Congress's protest was against the alleged action against the students, but neither the Prime Minister nor the Home Minister has responded on this issue. This entire incident has further intensified the political conflict during the Parliament session. Now all eyes are on what further stand will be taken between the government and the opposition on this issue.
