India's top player, Lakshya Sen, also progressed, securing a victory against Japan's world No. 19 Yushi Tanaka with scores of 22-20, 15-21, 21-14 in a challenging 53-minute match.

Sindhu, who recently ended a two-year title drought by clinching the Japan Open, faced a tough challenge from 18-year-old Unnati, winning 21-14, 9-21, 21-10 in a 56-minute battle. The former world champion was pushed to her limits as Unnati kept pace until the score reached 7-7 in the first game.

Finding her rhythm, Sindhu surged ahead with five consecutive points, ultimately taking the first game 21-14. However, the second game saw Unnati dominate, racing to a 12-4 lead and winning 21-9, forcing a decisive third game.

In the final game, Sindhu showcased her champion spirit, gradually pulling away from a close start to secure a 21-10 victory. She will next face fourth seed and local favorite Chen Yufei, who narrowly leads their head-to-head record 8-7.

Meanwhile, Shetty's impressive performance continued as he defeated former world junior champion Alwi Farhan 17-21, 21-5, 21-17 in a 57-minute match, setting up a clash with world No. 24 Nhat Nguyen from Ireland.

In men's doubles, the duo of Hariharan Amsakarunan and M.R. Arjun faced a tough match against China's Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, losing 16-21, 7-21 in less than 30 minutes. Additionally, India's mixed doubles teams struggled, with Rohan Kapoor and Gadde Ruthvika Shivani falling to top seeds Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping of China, while Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto lost to the fifth-seeded Chinese pair Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui.
